Forest Garden
The Forest Garden is a place to discover and immerse yourself in Australia's unique forest flora. Meandering paths lead you through a multitude of ecosystems displaying renowned Victorian plants from the sub-alpine Snow Gum woodlands, towering Alpine Ash montane forests, wet sclerophyll forests and eucalypt dominated foothills. Collages of green and subtle splashes of colour are around every turn ringing true to the nature of our rich forest flora.
Fun facts about the Forest Garden:

- Collection of montane and sub-alpine flora (located on the eastern side of the garden).
- A strong focus is placed on rare and threatened Victorian species at risk in the wild.
- Displays of flora from a variety of forest ecosystems including wet and dry sclerophyll forests across southern Australia.
Notes from the Curator
Matthew Henderson
The Forest Garden with its winding paths and expansive grounds, showcases the diversity found within the forests of Australia. From large single-trunked trees to high country mallees and the associated flora in between, the message being conveyed is that no forest type is the same. Each has its own distinct feel, appearance, threats, and suite of species, which serves to highlight the uniqueness and inherent value of our wild forests. It is hoped that through this display, visitors are inspired to learn about, see, experience, and indeed appreciate the wild places that inform this garden.
