Science and Conservation
Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria is a leading plant science organisation specialising in biodiversity and conservation research, taxonomy, and identification services for plants and fungi. The science and horticulture research undertaken at the Melbourne and Cranbourne Gardens sites directly supports Australia’s urgent conservation needs, and has been central to the State's response in safeguarding rare flora impacted by bushfire and landscape change events.
Our Strategy
RBGV Science programs are delivered by the Biodiversity Services, Collections, and Research branches of the Science Division, the priorities of which are outlined in the RBGV Science Strategy 2022–2031.
