Madison Hughes

Madison Hughes works alongside the Team Leader Collections Volunteers (Casey Jurgens) to assist in managing and supervising the Collections volunteer program. The Collections Volunteer program is an ever-growing group of plant-passionate individuals who physically curate specimens for the State Botanical Collection, including vascular flora, algae, bryophytes, fungi and lichen. 

Madi also helps investigate, source, and implement new collections' care recommendations, as well as documenting current specimen preparation techniques. She has extensive knowledge of herbarium specimen best practice and assists in training staff and volunteers to meet specimen standards.
